This background paper sets out the approach to the development of a working definition of abuse of older people. The working definition is intended to be applied in the Elder Abuse National Research Program and, in particular, to inform the development of data collection instruments for an Australian prevalence study.

This study suggests that Australian GPs may be open to a proactive approach to frailty assessment and treatment, given appropriate training and resources.

This guide is issued under section 53(1)(f) of the Age Discrimination Act 2004 (Cth) (the Act). It is designed to provide employers and other work providers with information about the operation of the Act and provide practical guidance about promoting the inclusion of older workers in multigenerational workforces.
