This report describes the evaluation of phase 1 of the New Employment Services Trial, a new employment services model developed to modernise the delivery of employment services by increasing digital servicing options for job ready participants and providing more intensive and tailored servicing to participants who require additional support.

Evaluation of the Career Transition Assistance program finds it improved digital literacy, confidence, and job search skills among mature-age job seekers. While employment outcomes lagged comparison groups initially, participants closed the gap over time. The program’s group-based delivery and tailored support were highly valued, though employer engagement and referrals require strengthening.
