This analysis shows that in most cases, the alleged benefits of Beetaloo gas development being touted by the NT Government, and subsidised by the Australian Government, are in direct conflict with observable, publicly-available economic data, and also with much of the economic, emissions and fiscal modelling undertaken to date.

The purpose of this report is to provide the Australian community and decision-makers with a synthesis of the now extensive evidence demonstrating multiple direct and indirect health and wellbeing risks from oil and gas developments.

This report focuses on various matters raised in the interim report (2021), the regulation and specific environmental impacts of the gas industry in the Beetaloo, and concerns expressed by First Nations communities and pastoralists.

This submission adds to the authors' multiple previous submissions by providing some critical updates to NT Parliament on research published in the last few years (2019-2022).

In this paper, the author asserts that petroleum industry claims, including by the Australian Petroleum Production & Exploration Association (APPEA), that gas projects would be contributing billions of dollars in federal taxes has not eventuated.
