This project report examines whether current social housing allocation and matching policies and practices meet the needs of applicants or tenants and maximise social housing sector performance and efficiency outcomes. It looks at how to optimise housing stock allocations based on individual needs, and neighbourhood and community needs.

The analysis outlined in this report reveals that over 600,000 Australian households are in housing stress, with the figure projected to rise to almost one million by 2041 without ongoing funding for social and affordable housing.
