This discussion paper has been prepared to assist public consultation for the 2025 review of the self-regulatory Australian Code of Practice on Disinformation and Misinformation. The current review of the Code will examine the scope and potential improvements to the Code’s governance and oversight.

This report sets out the Australian Code of Practice on Disinformation and Misinformation digital platform signatories' efforts under the voluntary arrangements to combat disinformation and misinformation. It offers insights into key developments and data reported by signatories throughout 2024, including information on policies and approaches to artificial intelligence, content moderation and coordinated inauthentic behaviour.

The action plan outlines the insurance industry’s position on the remaining recommendations from the Parliamentary Flood Inquiry and the independent review of the industry’s Code of Practice.
