NZ's relationship with Australia 'remains strong' says Ardern

International relations Prime ministers New Zealand Australia

Today's the first day on the job for New Zealand's new Labour Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, who was sworn in yesterday.

Her swearing-in comes more than a month after New Zealand took to the polls in an inconclusive vote on September 23.

Jacinda Ardern has now promised to build more public housing, re-introduce emissions trading and restrict immigration.

But she will also be tasked with repairing relations with Australia — the Prime Minister has promised to visit our country as soon as possible.

Jacinda Ardern joins us for her first Australian interview since taking power.
