Description
The 2014 G20 meeting in Brisbane saw leaders from G20 countries agree to reduce the gender participation gap between working aged men and women (aged 15–64 years) by 25 per cent by 2025. For Australia, this meant decreasing the gap by three percentage points from 12.1 (the 2012 starting point) to 9.1 percentage points by 2025. With the gap currently at 9.5 percentage points, this statement outlines a plan to meet this target, including a $109 million package of new initiatives and funding targets with a focus on three key pillars:
- workforce participation
- earning potential
- economic independence.
