Adjunct associate professor Philip Alpers is the director of a global project comparing gun laws in 350 jurisdictions worldwide.
Speaking with The World Today's Eleanor Hall, he says that New Zealand, like the United States, does not have universal gun registration and that 94 per cent of guns in the nation are not registered.
