Ask many Australians what makes this country better than the United States and many will cite our tighter gun laws.

But as Sunday's shooting death of a three-year-old girl in Sydney shows, Australia's gun control and gun violence prevention system has flaws.

And some researchers say that Australians can in fact learn lessons from the Americans on driving down gun deaths.
