New Zealand's Digital Technologies curriculum content must be implemented in all New Zealand schools for all students in Years 1-10 from January 2020. However, this report demonstrates that progress was slower than expected and Education Review Office (ERO) felt it likely that, on the current trajectory, many schools would not be meeting their obligations to implement the curriculum content as required.

Findings further showed that:

• Only 7% of schools felt they had sufficient understanding, knowledge and skills necessary to confidently implement the curriculum content in January 2020.
• Not all schools made this work a priority.
• Fewer than half of the schools had started school-wide planning or individual teacher planning.

Overall, more schools must start to engage seriously with what is required of them if they are to meet their curriculum obligations.
