Description
Migration has been an important influence on Australian society and economy. Today, Australia has about 7 million more people due to migration since the Second World War. In 2001, about 4.5 million people (23 per cent of the population) and 2.4 million workers (25 per cent of the workforce) were born overseas. The Australian Government has asked the Commission to examine the impacts of migration and population growth on Australia’s productivity and economic growth.
