Description
In this second of three reports analysing jobs availability in Western Sydney, we examine the geographical outcomes of high rates of workforce growth and the decline of manufacturing.
There is good news, especially involving the rapid rate of workforce up-skilling. But persistent under supply of jobs creates major commuting outflows, especially of those with professional and knowledge jobs. Jobs deficits also mean chronic joblessness in certain neighbourhoods but also among women more generally, expressed through low labour force participation rates.
