Description
The Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) has developed a framework to help its decision-makers to understand, test and probe mātauranga when it is presented in evidence. This framework is outlined in this document.
The EPA has commissioned a multi-year mātauranga programme of work. Its primary goals are to:
- Enable well-informed decision-making;
- Ensure the EPA understands the issues and implications of mātauranga for its decisionmaking processes;
- Increase the understanding of mātauranga across the EPA
Mātauranga is broadly defined as a body of knowledge, experience, values and philosophy of Māori.
