Sowing resilience: unlocking the potential for regenerative farming

Description

As prices rise rapidly, the British food system is under immense pressure – and this could get worse due to global warming and environmental harms. The food system itself also contributes to those harms.

In post-Brexit Britain, farming policy is undergoing the biggest overhaul in 40 years. However, what’s missing is a clearer vision for the environment, and one that can bring farmers on board.

Regenerative farming is a nature-friendly approach with care for the soil, plants, animals and environment. It could deliver key environmental benefits, but also long-term profitability for farmers, food security for consumers, and a beautiful countryside for communities.

This report, supported by McCain Foods, looks at the role regenerative farming can play in driving a new green transformation in agriculture. The report identifies the key barriers to its widespread adoption, including poor short-term financial incentives and difficulties in implementation.
