Description

The Australian Government has asked the Productivity Commission (the PC) to undertake an inquiry into Australia’s opportunities in the circular economy to improve materials productivity and efficiency in ways that benefit the economy and the environment.

The PC is interested in hearing from a wide range of participants, including all levels of Australian government (national, state and territory, and local), businesses, technical and subject matter experts, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, and the community more broadly. The PC welcomes comments and evidence on any part of the terms of reference, as well as any of the information requests set out in this call for submissions, or any other issues related to this inquiry.

The PC has released this paper to assist individuals and organisations to prepare submissions to the inquiry. It contains and outlines:

  • Scope of the inquiry
  • PC's procedures
  • Matters about which the PC is seeking comment and information

The call for submissions outlines the focus of the inquiry and identifies a range of issues on which the Commission seeks information and feedback.

Submission close on Friday 1 November 2024.
