This paper argues that insurance company boards are uniquely positioned to affect positive change by strengthening their oversight of fairness practices. It challenges boards to consider how they currently ensure fair customer outcomes and how they might better consider the impact of insurance practices on the community. 

The paper provides a framework for boards to use in assessing their oversight of fairness, raising a series of questions for boards to consider in relation to various fairness-related issues.
