Description
A suite of 10 proposed policy initiatives designed to accelerate Australia's transition to a clean energy economy while addressing skills shortages, improving community infrastructure, and enhancing resilience to climate change. For each proposed policy initiative, the authors provide direction for how the next Federal Government could deliver it.
Proposed policy initiatives
- Double the number of rooftop solar systems on Australian homes and significantly increase household storage.
- Establish the Australian Energy Corps to equip workers with the skills to power up Australia in secure, well-paid jobs.
- Prioritise community-led investments in schools and community facilities to deliver more clean energy and greater climate resilience.
- Establish a national roadmap to wind down household gas infrastructure and electrify all Australian homes.
- Ensure major projects are climate-positive by embedding climate impacts in project planning.
- End exploration for new offshore oil and gas.
- Invest in locally-manufactured offshore wind installation equipment.
