Description
This guide outlines the initial, critical phases of Customised Employment (CE), an individualised, person-centred approach used to secure meaningful work for people with disability. CE tailors a job or self-employment to fit the interests, contributions and conditions for success of a person, while also meeting the needs of a business or the market for a product or service. This approach fundamentally differs from traditional job searching by starting with the individual rather than a pre-existing job vacancy.
This guide outlines a four-step process to move from understanding a person’s strengths and interests (Discovery) to developing a customised job role that suits them.
