This study examines the changing geography of homelessness. It outlines the extent to which homelessness has become more spatially concentrated over time; where it has risen and fallen; and the importance that housing affordability, poverty and labour market opportunities play in reshaping its distribution.

Domestic and family violence is a major driver of homelessness in Australia, particularly for women and their children. This paper focuses on the intersections between these issues, drawing together the research, stories of victim-survivors and service provider wisdom to recommend ways forward.

The purpose of the literature review is to describe and analyse the current literature, including relevant recent policy, and data provided in the context of research reports available on Aboriginal Housing and Homelessness, specifically relating to existing frameworks, strategies, and Government and First Peoples led approaches.

The 2018 National Homelessness Conference, presenting the theme ‘Ending homelessness together’, delivered a wealth of evidence and information on ways to understand, reduce and alleviate homelessness. Over 800 delegates and more than 80 speakers participated across two very full days, exploring the underlying drivers of homelessness and the strategies to overcome it.

This report outlines the findings from an independent, longitudinal analysis, examining the changes in the scale and nature of homelessness in Australia, as well as how social, economic and policy drivers influence these changes.
