The Northern Territory faces a critical shortage of Aboriginal school teachers. This report presents findings from a study which explored how teaching is perceived as a career by Aboriginal senior secondary students and current Aboriginal teachers. The study also examined strategies to promote teaching as a viable and appealing profession.

Aboriginal deaths in custody in Western Australian prisons

This article provides an overview of the nature and adequacy of culturally appropriate health services within Western Australian prisons based on coroner findings on Aboriginal deaths in custody between 2019 to 2023. The findings reported substandard quality of supervision, care and treatment. The article calls for implementation of recommendations from Australian government inquiries.

This report presents the First Nations responses to the Australian National Carer Survey from 2020 to 2024. It focuses on First Nations carers’ economic and social needs, caring relationships, carers’ experiences accessing services, and their health and wellbeing. Findings show that many services do not meet First Nations carers’ needs to support their wellbeing.
