The Australian Government is looking for new ways to support First Nations people who have been incarcerated to connect with employment services and assist them to move into work. This discussion paper and consultation guide have been released to assist people in providing feedback.

This guide was created to help communities and organisations run their own just transition processes in response to challenges like climate change, rapid technological change, employment changes in regions and the transition to renewable energy in a way that fairly shares both the positive and negative effects.

This resource can be used to support anyone in First Nations communities to raise awareness about what abuse, neglect and exploitation is, and how to get help.

This perspective indicates how philosophies such as Yawuru’s mabu liyan can support relational, place-based, self-determined wellbeing initiatives while strengthening national policy efforts to capture the human and other-than-human interlinkages of wellbeing.

The recommendations in this report are framed against the backdrop of the entrenched poverty and profound disadvantage many First Nations people and communities continue to experience. In particular, the recommendations acknowledge First Nations people with disability’s long-standing struggle to achieve self-determination and agency over their lives and affairs.
