Bridging the gap: a pathway to excellence and equity in Australian schools through needs-based funding and equitable policy
Education policy can either worsen or offset social disadvantages. It can bridge or widen gaps, and it can drive or impede social mobility. With a focus on equitable, needs-based funding, this report argues for increased investment in public education as the key to reversing Queensland’s declining education outcomes.

State of Queensland: disaster ground zero
Queensland may be known as the Sunshine State, but it’s also Australia’s ground zero when it comes to climate fuelled disasters. This report calls on the Queensland Government to stop approving new or expanded coal and gas projects, grow firefighting capacity and help households and communities better prepare for increasing climate risks.

The report explores the role of local council in boosting housing supply and access for vulnerable people. It assesses factors that shape or limit council contributions, the replicability of novel interventions, and how the State Government can better support local contributions.

Lessons learnt from the first two SARS‐CoV‐2 Omicron waves of the COVID‐19 pandemic in six remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in Queensland, Australia
This retrospective epidemiological review of the impact of COVID-19 on remote First Nations communities shows that co‐designed, collaborative partnerships between local councils, community‐controlled health services, state health services and public health units positively impacted health outcomes.

The Queensland trauma strategy 2024-2029
This strategy establishes a whole-of-government, whole-of-community approach for integrating trauma-informed practice across Queensland. It is a five-year strategy that seeks to create the best possible conditions for individuals, families and carers, and communities to receive the right support as early as possible.
