This strategy establishes a whole-of-government, whole-of-community approach for integrating trauma-informed practice across Queensland. It is a five-year strategy that seeks to create the best possible conditions for individuals, families and carers, and communities to receive the right support as early as possible.
The strategy seeks to proactively prevent and reduce trauma, support healing and strengthen systems to provide full support to individuals, families and carers, and the broader community. It aims to create a safety net for all Queenslanders and addresses the root causes of trauma, including the role of social determinants and underlying factors such as economic stability, education, social inclusion, stable and affordable housing, and access to care. It also highlights the importance of prevention
and early intervention, aiming to prevent and reduce the impact of trauma, including the reducing of stigma.
The strategy has four focus areas:
- Prioritise prevention
- Early support
- Foster healing
- Enable reform
The strategy is accompanied by the consultation report which informed the development of the strategy.
