The Story of Our Children and Young People (initially known a the State of Our Children report) shares critical baseline data on children and young people in the Northern Territory. The publication has been guided by both national and local leadership. It is underpinned by the national research of the Australian Research Alliance for Children and Youth and The Nest outcomes framework, but it has been shaped by a locally developed framework using cultural metaphors of First Nations peoples.

The story is told through 48 indicators and 20 case studies and cultural stories of wellbeing which begin to tell the many stories of our children and young people in the Northern Territory. This publication is a resource to inform planning and decision-making for the service of children and young people. The next edition will be released in 2021.
