The investigation included a number of evidence sessions with a broad range of witnesses over the course of eight months, in addition to a substantial volume of written evidence.
Key findings:
- UK government failed to investigate evidence of successful interference in democratic processes
- Evidence suggests that Russia sought to influence Scottish independence referendum
- Members of the Russian elite closely linked to Vladimir Putin are involved in charitable and political organisations in the UK
- New legislation is needed to replace the outdated Official Secrets Act.
