Policy report

In June 2019, the UK government committed to reach net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. But more than a year on, the UK remains off track to meet even its previous, less ambitious target.

This report examines the current government’s approach to tackling, and preparing for, climate change – as well as the approaches of previous governments and other countries. It assesses what is working and what isn’t, and makes recommendations on how government can get on track to meet its target before it hosts the crucial COP26 climate summit in November 2021.
