Description
This is the eighth interim report from the Digital Platform Services Inquiry.
The report considered potential competition and consumer issues in the supply of data products and services by data firms in Australia. It outlines a range of industry practice which have not been well-examined in Australia by academics, regulators and others. This is important given the significant role data firms play in the economy.
The report does not make any new recommendations to government, but provides further evidence to support the introduction of a prohibition on unfair trading practices and the implementation of strengthened privacy laws in Australia.
