Description

This report provides the Ministry's strategic Intentions, including the role, purpose, objectives, priorities and outcomes.

The new Ministry for Regulation was established on 1 March 2024, and will focus on lifting quality across all regulatory systems and supporting agencies with regulatory responsibilities to align with good practice. It will work with regulators across government with a task to cut existing red tape with sector reviews, improve the scrutiny of new laws and to improve the capability of the regulatory workforce. 

Priorities

  • Lead the reform of the regulatory policy process.
  • Invest in the capability of regulatory leaders.
  • Establish the Ministry's role and operating model.
  • Partner to deliver improvements to existing regulation.
  • Set expectations around the performance of regulatory systems.
