Guidelines on equal access to digital goods and services
These guidelines assist organisations to avoid discrimination by facilitating access to digital goods and services. They provide an overview of the Disability Discrimination Act, the standards and guidelines that apply in Australia, and how organisations can provide equal access to digital goods and services.
The Disability Discrimination Act is a federal law that makes discrimination on the ground of disability unlawful in areas of public life. It aims to eliminate discrimination, as far as possible, against people with disability and to recognise that people with disability have the same fundamental rights as others. These guidelines are a minimum standard for organisations to aim for in relation to digital goods and services access.
The guidelines reflect changes in technology, updated national and international standards and new policies.
