Description
A compendium of eight case studies provides practical insights into how individuals and organisations are navigating the implementation of Generative AI (Gen AI) in Australia. The case studies highlight the importance of context-specific adoption and adaptation rather than one-size-fits-all approaches.
The case studies contribute to an evolving understanding of how Gen AI is reshaping and could reshape work, skills and institutions. They also highlight what this transformation means for policy, practice and people.
Themes
- Adapting work and skills – includes four case studies exploring how Gen AI is being reflected in employment patterns, skill requirements and organisational workforce strategies.
- Hybrid co-design – includes a university case study that showcases productive and responsible engagement with both staff and students in designing solutions for educational contexts.
- Inclusion and cultural authority – includes three case studies focused on AI systems that address accessibility and cultural sensitivity, and empowerment for people with disability and Indigenous communities.
Editor's note
The report was updated to include two additional case studies on 30 September 2025. The two additional case studies consider Gen AI experiences and complexities in non-market settings and in leveraging co-design.
