Strategy
Description

A policy framework to respond to the risks identified in Australia’s national climate risk assessment. The plan sets out current and future actions in key sectors and principles to guide future action. It articulates how the Australian Government can enable effective adaptation through leadership and governance.

The plan identifies priorities, existing action underway and future priorities across 7 key ‘systems’:

  1. economy, trade and finance
  2. infrastructure and built environment
  3. natural environment
  4. primary industries and food
  5. health and social support
  6. communities – urban, regional and remote
  7. defence and national security.

It also presents climate risks identified by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

The plan is accompanied by two supplementary documents: Adaptation in Australian Government policies and International climate adaptation context.
