Report
Description
Natalie Taylor and Kate Charlton assessed the effects of the Queensland Police Service shopfronts program on crime reporting to determine whether shopkeepers were experiencing rising levels of crime or were more likely to report criminal incidents when a police shopfront was present. They compared two centres, one with a police shopfront and one without, and police records before and after the implementation of the program, and analysed shopkeeper self-reports and perceptions. The study found that official records alone are unlikely to be a good measure of the impact of police shopfronts.
