This consultation paper seeks community views on a staged approach to considering implementation of the civil surveillance reforms recommended by the Queensland Law Reform Commission (QLRC). It also seeks feedback on the workability of those aspects of the QLRC draft Bill that impose the use prohibitions and communication or publication prohibitions.

The Queensland Government has accepted 18 of the Committee’s recommendations in full including those that will be co-designed. Four recommendations are accepted-in-principle as further policy development is required.

The Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC) is the industry’s self-funded, independent regulator. This review examines the roles and responsibilities of the QBCC, and the Queensland Building and Construction Board, along with their respective policies, procedures and practices that affect the third-largest contributor to Queensland’s economy.

This review aspires to influence a cultural shift, which encourages openness from the top, starting with Cabinet processes and a resulting shared focus on identifying and dealing with the challenges Queensland faces.

This strategy provides a high-level framework for this work to take place over the next five years, and includes key commitments to drive the work to strengthen the status of women in Queensland.
