It explores landlords’ perceptions and the factors influencing their decisions to move properties into or out of the STRA market. Australia’s housing crisis has intensified pressure on policymakers to address the impact of STRA on housing affordability and availability.

Placing rural in the National Disability Insurance Scheme review

This article examines the 2023 Independent Review of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), assessing how processes, recommendations and actions considered regional, rural and remote (RRR) contexts. Findings show the Review insufficiently addressed RRR needs and offers recommendations to guide policymakers toward a more inclusive disability policy.

It finds that rental affordability has finally stabilised in parts of the country after years of steep decline. However, pressures remain high, especially for people on low and moderate incomes.

It found that housing supply and housing demand are poorly aligned with serious consequences. The report presents 12 findings and 34 recommendations.
