In June 2019, the UK government committed to reach net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. This report examines the current government’s approach to tackling, and preparing for, climate change – as well as the approaches of previous governments and other countries.

This briefing paper shows that had the Gillard Government’s carbon price remained in place, Australia’s emissions would be 25 million tonnes lower in 2020 and 72 million tonnes lower over the last five years.
