This resource is for policy-makers and practitioners working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children who have experienced domestic and family violence and have come into contact with child protection systems.

The Safe and Supported: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander First Action Plan 2023-2026 will focus on achieving safety and wellbeing outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children. It was developed in partnership with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Leadership Group.

This report presents information on young people under youth justice supervision during 2020–21 who had an interaction with the child protection system in the 5 years between 1 July 2016 and 30 June 2021.

This year’s 'Family Matters' report is the third to be published following the development of the new National Agreement on Closing the Gap, which was entered into in July 2020. The report suggests that only limited progress has been made to redress over-representation and the drivers of child protection intervention.

This is the final report from the research project 'Identifying Strategies to Better Support Foster, Kinship and Permanent Carers'. This project was undertaken by the Australian Institute of Family Studies and Murawin, an Aboriginal research and evaluation consultancy.
