How NFPs should engage with government: strategies, tools and frameworks for long-term success
No matter the size or scope of an organisation, those that thrive through tumultuous and transitionary periods know to link government engagement activities to their strategic objectives and have structural systems that are embedded and aligned across the organisation.
This paper explores how to frame asks from a political perspective and understand that everyone has a role to play in government engagement. As the social and non-profit sector represents the diverse needs and voices of our community, it is a critical responsibility held by leaders in this space, and organisations must understand how to frame their asks through the political lens for genuine impact, outcome and systemic change.
The tools outlined in this paper have been developed to provide an assessment of current capacity, practical approaches to skilling up around government engagement and conversation starters to help address all the risks and opportunities that go with government engagement.
