Description

This report is a new requirement for Australia as a party to the Paris Agreement. All parties to the Paris Agreement are required to submit biennial transparency reports (BTR) every two years. The BTR will report on progress of  the commitment to the global goal of holding the increase in global average temperatures to well below 2°C of warming and pursuing efforts to limit the temperature increase to 1.5°C.

The report provides information on Australia’s greenhouse gas emissions and trends, national circumstances and current policies and measures. It also reports on Australia’s climate change impacts, adaptation actions and financial assistance provided to developing countries that are party to the Paris Agreement.

The report finds that Australia is on track to meet its emissions targets with emissions projected to be 42.6% below 2005 levels in 2030.
