Description
This strategy outlines the Department's commitment to creating a workplace where everyone feel they belong and are safe, valued and empowered to succeed.
The strategy sets out a vision and how it will be achieved. It is built on the four pillars of inclusion outlined by the Diversity Council of Australia.
- Respected – everyone in the Department is valued for who they are. Everyone is treated with fairness and dignity.
- Connected – our teams are supportive and collaborative. Staff members are part of a community.
- Contributing – all staff are empowered to share their skills and ideas. We all make meaningful contributions to our work.
- Progressing – everyone has equitable access to opportunities for growth, learning, and career development.
In supporting an inclusive workplace, it outlines how everyone in the Department can act to achieve the ambitions outlined in the strategy, identifying what leaders and managers can also do.
The key elements of how the strategy will be achieved are:
- measuring our diversity and inclusion
- investing in our employees
- accessible workplaces
- culture and management practice
- psychosocial safety.
