Description
In 2024, more than 17,500 children aged 8-12 years across South Australia took part in the annual Commissioner’s Student Voice Postcards initiative. Postcards were received from 356 schools across South Australia.
Students were invited to draw a picture for the Commissioner, and they were asked to complete the following four sentences:
- My favourite thing to do is…
- I want to know more about…
- In the future I hope that…
- My neighbourhood would be better for kids if…
Their responses provide clear insight into their lives, including the conditions which shape them. They also expose patterns of systemic challenges that must be addressed. Above all, South Australian children want to be heard, and to have their diverse experiences and views recognised and valued.
