DIGI is the industry lobby group who manage the voluntary Australian Code of Practice on Disinformation and Misinformation on behalf of technology companies who are signatories to the Code. The Code has been adopted by Adobe, Apple, Facebook, Google, Microsoft, Redbubble, TikTok and Twitch. As part of this Code, DIGI has released two reviews.
This submission responds to the Australian Code of Practice on Disinformation and Misinformation: 2025 review discussion paper and strongly argues against a proposal by DIGI to reduce the Code's scope to focus only on the more limited category of disinformation and not misinformation. It also encourages further action and support for information integrity including funding and support for media literacy initiatives.
