Strategy
Description

An action plan supporting First Nations businesses to realise growing trade and investment opportunities with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and broader Middle East. It provides a framework for First Nations businesses to take advantage of the Australia-UAE trade deal, which entered into force in October 2025. The agreement is Australia's first trade deal with a dedicated chapter on First Nations business.

The plan provides tangible support for Australian First Nations businesses by strengthening cultural and economic ties through activities across priority sectors, including creative industries, green economy, services, sustainable agriculture, agrifood and critical enabling technologies.

The plan prioritises activities in five key pillars:

  1. supporting First Nations businesses realise their UAE export potential
  2. strengthening the relationship between First Nations businesses and the UAE
  3. showcasing Australia’s First Nations business excellence in the UAE
  4. supporting the protection of Indigenous Cultural and Intellectual Property
  5. elevating First Nations interests and perspectives in the Australia-UAE investment relationship.
