This research examines how governments and organisations involved in planning and delivering housing use data to assess risks associated with flooding, bushfires and cyclones. It explores ways to use and share data better in order to reduce the impact of disasters.

Transit Oriented Development (TOD) aggregates urban activity and development around nodes in a public transport network. This research focuses on the underlying spatial qualities of precincts which would seem to be important in influencing their development towards TODs.

This paper addresses this question in relation to children’s walking. Drawing on a case study of a Western Australian primary school the authors investigate three ways in which walkability is linked to the quality of life of children: being able to access places; improving physical health; and enabling independence.
