In 2017, the inaugural Commissioner for Children and Young People South Australia, Helen Connolly, undertook a 'Listening Tour' throughout South Australia to meet, discuss and build relationships with children, young people, community service agencies, schools, preschools, childcare centres, hospitals, libraries, places of worship and clubs.
The aim of the tour was to find out what matters most to children and young people throughout South Australia and how their lives can be improved. This included finding out what they wanted their newly appointed Commissioner to advocate for on their behalf and to learn about the role of the Commissioner.
This report explores the questions:
-
What’s important to children and young people in SA?
-
What would you change in SA to make life better?
-
What should the Commissioner prioritise in her role to help make life better for children and young people in South Australia?
The report highlights the importance of engaging with SA children and young people to learn about their views, opinions, ideas, and solutions.
