The South Australian government is committed to improving the opportunities and services available to Aboriginal South Australians. To achieve this ambition, the government has developed this action plan that outlines a series of initiatives and actions for completion by agencies during 2019-20.

This review is a five‐year revisit of the 2013 report, Improving end of life care for South Australians. That report was a midpoint examination of the implementation of South Australian Health's Palliative care services plan 2009‐16, which outlined the South Australian government’s commitment to expand and reshape end‐of‐life services in the state.

The 10-year strategy highlights the importance of empowering parents, carers, family and community, and being a culturally responsive organisation to support education and development of Aboriginal children and young people.

In February 2018, the South Australian Government signed an agreement with the Narungga Nation, as a significant milestone towards Treaty.
