People from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds comprise an increasingly significant proportion of the population living in Australia, and yet their visibility and needs are not adequately reflected in our homelessness service system. Tiny houses offer some potential to improve housing choice for those who can afford the upfront cost, may offer low impact urban densification option and can foster more sustainable behaviours. This potential will however, not be achieved unless local and state governments regulate tiny houses as a lawful dwelling type.

An effective homelessness services system for older Australians
This study investigated the issues affecting older Australians who are facing homelessness, including the capacity to access Specialist Homeless Services and other government supports, and potential ways to escape homelessness for older people. The research also considers appropriate, successful international practices for older people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
