The recommendations in this final report reflect the challenge of balancing the many and sometimes competing demands on the Central West forests, in the context of pressures of climate change and Victoria’s growing population.

The objective of this audit was to assess the effectiveness of the Director of National Parks’ management of Australia’s six Commonwealth national parks.

VEAC was requested to undertake this assessment in March 2018, to inform and support the development of Victoria’s marine and coastal policy and strategy, including the proposed marine spatial planning framework.

This report is a synthesis of key outcomes and lessons learnt from the Australian Committee of the International Union for Conservation of Nature’s (ACIUCN) Post-2020 Biodiversity Framework workshop in Brisbane on 13 March 2019.
