The Commonwealth, States and Territories and representatives of the non-government school sector are collaborating on the development of a principles-based framework to support schools and education systems in the use of artificial intelligence (AI).

On 6 July 2023, Education Ministers across Australia agreed to release a consultation paper seeking views on a draft National AI in Schools Framework. The framework sets out elements and principles to guide education systems, schools and teachers in using AI safely and ethically.

The Department of Eduction (NSW), on behalf of the Commonwealth, States and Territories and representatives of the non-government school sector, is seeking feedback on this draft National Framework for further consideration by Education Ministers by 16 August 2023.
