Employment for people with disability have numerous social, health and economic benefits including greater likelihood of secure housing, reduced poverty, social inclusion as well as better physical and mental health. This report provides new insights regarding the barriers and facilitators of gaining and maintaining employment for jobseekers using disability employment services in Australia.

This study sought to explore the experiences faced by adults with dyslexia in seeking and retaining employment. The findings indicate participants experienced challenges including mental exhaustion, discrimination, limited access to support and fatigue, leaving them vulnerable to job burn-out. Informed workplace environments are needed to help employees with dyslexia thrive.

This project adapts the Work Integration Social Enterprise (WISE) model for the disability sector, and identifies factors that facilitate and inhibit pathways to employment.

People with disability in Australia brings together information from a range of national data sources to contribute to a greater understanding of disability in Australia. The 2021–22 update expands the report to include new reporting of data disaggregated by age group, disability group and remoteness.

This report documents key findings from the Improving Disability Employment Study (IDES) project. The project aimed to progress evidence on factors that promote sustainable and meaningful employment outcomes for people with disability who are participants in Disability Employment Services (DES).
