This report was commissioned by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) as part of the evaluation of CQC’s five-year strategy, and aims to provide an in-depth assessment of the relationship between CQC’s regulatory approach, and improvement in quality of health and social care.

This report finalises an intensive review of public sector employment laws in Queensland and recommends changes that include different language and concepts about how and why people work for the State Government in its various guises.

The Magenta Book guides government professionals in designing, managing, and using evaluation to inform policy. It highlights evolving methods, the importance of embedding evaluation early, and its role in improving interventions. High-quality evidence supports better decisions, reduces risk, and fosters a culture of continuous improvement across departments.

This study responds to a need to identify strategies and practical actions to support culturally safe evaluation in Indigenous settings in Australia and New Zealand.
